CARLISLE HARRABY GREYHOUND STADIUM

This site is not an official website for the track shown here and is neither approved or endorsed by the stadium. I am indebted to Richard English for helping to construct this page.

The Cumbrian town of Carlisle has had 3 greyhound tracks in the past, the earliest one being at Harraby at 2° 54' W 54° 52' N. Planning for the track began in February 1928 and the inaugural meeting was held on 9th June 1928. Racing was administered by the independent company the Carlisle and Cumberland Greyhound Racing Sports Ltd, but within a year the company had become bankrupt and racing ceased in 1929.

The town did have another track later on which was in the Sheepmount area of the town at 2° 56' W 54° 54' N.

This section gives a comprehensive picture of the badges produced by the track throughout the ages, but only provides the briefest of glimpses of its history. For those wishing to undertake further research we can recommend a visit to
